Telford coach Tom Watkins has praised his players after the Tigers secured their first victory since reforming, a 5-2 win against Swindon Wildcats.

"I'm really chuffed for the guys after four or five weeks of hard work," Watkins told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"It's about all of us getting it done together, and if we all chip in like this we'll certainly pick up more wins along the way."

The weekend started with a 4-3 overtime defeat by Peterborough Phantoms.

Andrejs Maslovskis scored twice in the Swindon win, with one goal apiece from Scott McKenzie, Marek Hornak and Joe Henry.

Hornak also scored in the close-run Peterborough defeat, with Tomas Janak netting two.

"We all like to win, but to do it with a good group of guys feels really special," said Watkins.

Tigers now go into their next weekend of action in confident mood.

They travel to Basingstoke on Saturday, 9 October before a home clash with Slough the following day at 1730 BST.
