Newcastle Vipers forward Dale Mahovsky is looking forward to renewing old acquaintances when he makes his Elite League bow on Tyneside this season. Mahovsky, 25, is one of several graduates from the University of Alberta in British hockey, along with Ian McDonald at Nottingham Panthers. "Nottingham and Edinburgh stand out right now as I have friends who will be playing on those teams," he said. "I am also excited to play Belfast as they seem to be good every year." Vipers will be the Canadian player's first professional club, after spells with the Kootenay Ice in the junior Western Hockey League and his university side. "I am excited to be coming to Newcastle, I cannot wait to meet all the guys on the team, the staff and the Vipers fans," said the Alberta-born forward. "I think it's going to be quite an experience for me and I am looking forward to experiencing a new situation in Newcastle and the Elite League."
