COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Emirates Ground: Durham 372, Nottinghamshire 257-6 Durham 5pts, Notts 5pts Match scorecard
Chris Read shared half-century stands with Ali Brown and Steven Mullaney
County Championship leaders Nottinghamshire fought back against defending champions Durham on day two at Chester-le-Street.
After the hosts resumed on 347-6, they were bowled out for 372 with Andre Adams picking up 5-92.
The visitors slipped to 71-3 in reply before Ali Brown (52) and Adam Voges (48) added 75 for the fifth wicket.
Chris Read (56) and Steven Mullaney (23 no) then then helped Notts to 257-6 at the close, a deficit of 115 runs.
Captain Phil Mustard had added just three to his overnight 117 when he edged Ryan Sidebottom to wicketkeeper Read to become the first of four Durham wickets to fall for 10 runs.
Liam Plunkett also edged behind off Sidebottom, while Adams accounted for Mitch Claydon and had Scott Borthwick caught at deep mid-wicket for a career-best 68.
Notts then lost Samit Patel to Claydon and Alex Hales to Mark Davies, who recorded 2-10 from 15 overs before having to withdraw from the action with a sciatic problem.
Voges led the recovery, first with Mark Wagh (30) and then with Brown, but he was eventually trapped lbw by Davies.
Read added 50 with Brown, who drove Borthwick's leg-spin to mid-off, and 56 with Mullaney before gloving a leg-side catch to Mustard off Liam Plunkett as the close drew near.
That leaves Notts facing the prospect of a first-innings deficit, but they have already moved 21 points clear of second-placed Somerset in the race for the Division One title.
BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson: "Durham didn't capitalise on their overnight score, losing their last four wickets for just 25 runs to leave them on 372. They are yet to get maximum batting points this season.
"While Notts would have been thankful for that, they found the going tough on a pitch which had a lot of movement in it.
"They'll resume on day three still 115 behind and having lost Ryan Sidebottom to England duty. He'll be replaced by Darren Pattinson.
"However, the key to the outcome of this game could be the latest injury to beset Durham bowler Mark Davies. He's now likely to miss the rest of the game with a sciatic problem.
"That news came on the day that it was confirmed Steve Harmison, Graham Onions, Callum Thorp and Ben Stokes will all miss the remainder of the season through injury. It's been one of those seasons for Durham."
