Green will wear the number 21 shirt this season |
MK Lightning have added youngster Ross Green to their squad after the defenceman impressed for the under-18s last season. The 18-year-old also featured in his Great Britain age group at this year's World Junior Championships. Player-coach Nick Poole told the club's website: "'Ross is a player that we are expecting to have a breakout year. "I believe he will be one of the best British defenders playing in the UK within a few years." He added: "Last year he got his feet under the table and the main objective for him was to gain some experience and get comfortable with our league. | I want to develop and improve as a player over this coming season and there is no better place to do this than here at MK MK Lightning defenceman Ross Green |
"This year we are bringing him in to make us a better team. He is very coachable and is keen to improve all the time." For Chelmsford-born Green, the opportunity to become a fully fledged English Premier League player was too good to turn down. "I am excited about my first full senior season and I cannot wait to get going," he said. "I am looking forward to the challenge and hopefully more success with the team. I want to develop and improve as a player over this coming season and there is no better place to do this than here at MK."
