Green will wear the number 21 shirt this season

MK Lightning have added youngster Ross Green to their squad after the defenceman impressed for the under-18s last season.

The 18-year-old also featured in his Great Britain age group at this year's World Junior Championships.

Player-coach Nick Poole told the club's website: "'Ross is a player that we are expecting to have a breakout year.

"I believe he will be one of the best British defenders playing in the UK within a few years."

He added: "Last year he got his feet under the table and the main objective for him was to gain some experience and get comfortable with our league.

"This year we are bringing him in to make us a better team. He is very coachable and is keen to improve all the time."

For Chelmsford-born Green, the opportunity to become a fully fledged English Premier League player was too good to turn down.

"I am excited about my first full senior season and I cannot wait to get going," he said.

"I am looking forward to the challenge and hopefully more success with the team. I want to develop and improve as a player over this coming season and there is no better place to do this than here at MK."
