Cardiff-born forward Matthew Myers has returned to the Nottingham Panthers after a season playing in the USA.

The 26-year-old first joined Panthers in 2004 and spent five years at the club, before splitting last season between Bakersfield and Johnstown.

Myers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It feels like I have never been away.

"I spoke to some other clubs around the league but Nottingham was always my number one choice. Having five years here already I know what it's about."

Myers was part of the Panthers side which won the play-offs in 2006/07 and the Challenge Cup a year later.

The centreman is a Great Britain international regular and was part of the bronze-medal winning squad in 2009.

Coach Corey Neilson added: "It won't have done Matthew any harm playing in Bakersfield and Johnstown last season and he brings a lot to the table for us.

"We know what he can do, he can be a surprise package for opponents and it gives me a new batch of options when it comes to filling the last two import berths on the roster."
