Nottingham Panthers have signed an enforcer to their roster with the addition of forward Alex Penner.

The 23-year-old comes to the National Ice Centre after three seasons playing in various leagues in America. Last year he played for Colorado in the CHL.

Coach Corey Neilson said: "Alex is destined to be a crowd pleaser.

"Nottingham has had some great 'policemen' in the past and Alex is keen to follow that tradition. He is excited to be joining us."

Penner, who has also had a short stint in the prestigious American Hockey League, has never taken less than 150 penalty minutes in a season in his career.

"Alex loves the sport. He knows our primary job is to play the game but he also knows his role. The fans will love his no nonsense style," added Neilson.
