Cowley scored one and assisted another during Sunday's win

Coventry Blaze forward Russ Cowley has come in for praise from his coach Paul Thompson following his display against Nottingham Panthers.

Cowley netted his 100th goal for the club in the 5-3 victory on Sunday.

Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "We had a little talk before the game and he was disappointed with his performances.

"I love that in a player. You sit down and talk things through. He was outstanding for us."

He added: "He made a great play for [Danny] Stewart's goal and he got his rewards with that empty netter and that'll give him confidence because I thought he was all over the ice."
