Matsos praises team showing in Sheffield Steelers win
Matsos saw the Steelers win one and lose one at the weekend
Sheffield Steelers head coach Dave Matsos put his side's 8-0 win over Edinburgh on Sunday down to good preparation and great teamwork.
"Everybody did their job very responsibly, and we executed our transition and set break-outs well," Matsos told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"I think now there is belief that this [preparation] is working so let's run with it.
"It was a sound 60 minutes for us," Matsos added.
Jeff Legue, Jason Hewitt and Joey Talbot all scored twice in the win over the Capitals, with Randy Dagenais and Matt Hubbauer netting one each.
It was, however, a weekend of mixed fortunes for the Steelers, who lost 3-2 at Belfast on Saturday and saw Rod Sarich suffer a broken foot that threatens to rule him out of his side's Continental Cup campaign.
The defenceman took a puck in the skate trying to block a shot against the Giants and X-rays show he has a clean fracture of the foot.
It makes him a major doubt for the club's Continental Cup campaign that starts this Friday in Grenoble, France.
The 28-year-old will see a specialist this week to see whether he can freeze the injury and play through the pain.
Matsos said the break caps an awful run for Sarich as it is his third broken bone in as many months.
"There is a cliché that things come in threes. Roddy took a shot in Nottingham and broke his thumb and missed four or five weeks.
"Then, first game back again against the Nottingham Panthers, he took a puck in the finger and broke his middle finger. It is horrible looking right now, but he plays through it.
"Then on Saturday night, he took a shot off the foot and for the third time in a few months he has another break."
The Steelers face hosts Grenoble on Friday, with a 1900 GMT face-off and you can hear the whole game live in BBC Radio Sheffield in Steelers Hockey.
