Belfast Giants' seven-match winning run came to an end when they were beaten by Sheffield in the Challenge Cup.

Jeff Legue and Mark Thomas hit early Sheffield goals and while Brandon Benedict replied for Belfast, Matt Hubbauer made it 3-1 for the Steelers.

Legue's goal extended Sheffield's lead to 4-1 before Benedict struck again to give the Giants a glimmer of hope.

But Brad Cruikshank extended Steelers' lead to three in the final period before Michael Jacobsen's late goal.
