Steve Thornton's side lost their opener in Nottingham

The Belfast Giants lost 4-1 to Nottingham Panthers in their opening Elite League game of the season.

Ross Dalgleish and Cameron Mann scored for the Panthers in the opening period while Sean McAslan made it 3-0 near the end of the second period.

Colin Shields pulled a goal back for the Giants soon after but Mann grabbed his second of the game in the fourth period to secure the points.

The Giants now face an away trip to take on Hull Stingrays on Sunday night.
