Sheffield Steelers general manager Mike O'Connor has dismissed rumours that their playing budget for next season has been cut.

The Steelers have already lost netminder Jody Lehman, while Steve Munn and Rod Sarich are unlikely to return.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We've got the same budget as last year.

"The problem is that were successful and everybody wants an increase in their wages, and there's no room to give everybody a wage increase."
