Swansea managerial candidates Gary Speed and Aidy Boothroyd
Swansea City have drawn up a six-man shortlist of contenders to succeed new Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez.
Former Wales captain Gary Speed has been approached by Swansea while ex-Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd and Exeter manager Paul Tisdale have been linked.
Chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed talks have already started to replace Martinez now the Spaniard has sealed his switch to Wigan.
Jenkins told BBC Sport: "We are down to about six main people."
Martinez's departure was eventually confirmed on Monday night, ending 10 days of negotiations between Wigan and the Championship club.
The Premier League side agreed to pay the Swans the estimated £2m in compensation for the 35-year-old boss but Martinez's unveiling was held-up as the Welsh club demanded compensation for Martinez's backroom staff.

Swansea's compensation demands for assistant manager Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves to follow Martinez to the JJB Stadium were met on Monday.
Now chief Jenkins wants his club to "move on" following a turbulent couple of weeks as he seeks stability ahead of pre-season, which is set to start on 25 June, and as the new Football League fixtures are to be announced on Wednesday.
"I know in my mind who we're looking at but I'm not going to give names," said Jenkins.
Sheffield United player-coach Speed, the 85-times capped Welsh international midfielder, has already been given permission to speak to Swansea.
The 39-year-old has a year left on his Bramall Lane contract but is keen to get into management and recently passed his Uefa pro licence qualification.
Speed, the hugely-respected former Newcastle United, Everton and Bolton Wanderers player, would be an untested manager but lately the Swans have a track record of recruiting first-time managers.
Both Martinez, who became Swansea boss in February in 2007, and his predecessor Kenny Jackett cut their managerial teeth at the Liberty Stadium.
Former Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd is also known to be keeping an interest in the vacancy as Jenkins confirmed the 38-year-old had "declared an interest".
League One new boys Exeter have warned Swansea off their boss Tisdale after he inspired the club to back-to-back promotions.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United assistant manager Gus Poyet - the ex-Uruguay and Chelsea midfielder who is currently out of work - has also emerged as a front-runner for the Liberty Stadium top job.
Jenkins ideally would like to have a new manager in place by the end of the week, which leaves a week before the players return for pre-season training.
"Hopefully it will push on between now and the weekend," he said.
