Clarke has scored 24 goals this season

Great Britain international David Clarke has suffered an injury setback ahead of back-to-back matches for the Nottingham Panthers this weekend.

Clarke has missed the last three matches and it had been hoped he would return for games at home to Edinburgh and on-the-road in Hull.

Coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's a big part of our offence and a huge scorer.

"He leaves a big hole in our team, but he'll be back really soon."

Panthers host Edinburgh at the National Ice Centre on Saturday evening, before travelling to Hull on Sunday.

The two sides are both battling just to make a top eight spot in table and reach the play-offs.

Neilson added: "These teams, even though the stats may not show, are capable of winning games.

"But as long as we stick to the game plan I'm confident we'll have a good weekend."
