Jonathan Weaver's goals could not prevent two defeats (Mark Tredgold) |
Coventry Blaze suffered a double setback in their quest to retain their Elite League crown with defeats to the top two sides. Blaze lost 4-1 away to second-placed Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, Jonathan Weaver netting for Coventry. Weaver bagged a brace the following day but it was not enough to avoid a 4-3 overtime loss to Sheffield Steelers. Dan Carlson also scored for Blaze, who are 10 points off leaders Steelers in fourth place with two games in hand.
