Five Nottingham youngsters are to represent Great Britain in ice-hockey at the World Student Games in 2009.

Geoff Woolhouse, Robert Lachowicz, Tom Norton, Stuart Bliss and Marcus Maynard will travel to China in February.

Woolhouse, Lachowicz and Norton have all iced for the Nottingham Panthers this season, while Bliss and Maynard play for Nottingham Lions.

Great Britain will face Canada, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic and host nation China in the group stage.

Coach Matt Bradbury said: "This will be a great experience for all concerned."

The student squad was founded in 2005 by the BUIHA (British Universities Ice Hockey Association) as a national representative team for British students (aged 17-28) who are currently enrolled on full-time university degree courses.

The GB students first took part in the tournament in 2007 in Italy.
