Sarich was a success as an emergency forward against Manchester |
Sheffield Steelers coach Dave Matsos has praised defenceman Rod Sarich after back-to-back wins over Manchester. The 27-year-old played as an emergency forward and notched up three assists as the Steelers eased to a 7-3 victory at home on Saturday. He then scored in the 5-4 win in the reverse fixture on Sunday. "We have found a new power forward, Roddy was incredible. He looked right at home from the first minute of Saturdays game," said Matsos. The Steelers are now second in the Elite League, four points behind Coventry but with a game in hand. Matsos was forced to play Sarich in attack after losing four forwards to international duty. Ashley Tait, Jason Hewitt, Jonathan Phillips and Robert Dowd were all in the Great Britain squad which beat Romania 11-1 in an Olympic pre-qualifying tournament in Poland.
