Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson has sung the praises of his 'special' powerplay unit following back-to-back wins at the weekend.

Coventry beat Basingstoke Bison in the Challenge Cup and Elite League.

Adam Calder, Dan Carlson, Jonathan Weaver, Sylvain Dechatalets and Scott Kelman make up Blaze's five-man unit.

Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "That powerplay unit is pretty special. I'd go as far as saying that's the best five I've ever had."

He continued: "They move the puck and sometimes they move it that much we don't even take the shots, so we've just got to remember we are trying to score."

Coventry are next in action on Saturday (13 September) when they travel to Sheffield to take on Steelers.
