Nottingham Panthers coach Mike Ellis was overcome with emotion after seeing his side retain the Challenge Cup. Panthers lost 4-3 to Sheffield Steelers in front of 7,000 fans at the National Ice Centre but won 9-7 on aggregate.
"It's an awesome feeling when you win things like this," Ellis told BBC Radio Nottingham. "This is what you all work and play for.
"The guys went through the wall for each other. They did everything that was needed and I could want."
Netminder Tom Askey added: "This is great - it's a tremendous atmosphere and this is what it's all about, winning games and championships.
"Elly is trying to build something here and this is another step in the right direction."
