Former Sheffield Steelers coach Mike Blaisdell has played down suggestions that he could be in contention for the vacant Belfast Giants job. The Northern Ireland outfit are searching for a replacement for Tony Hand who has returned to his hometown club Edinburgh Capitals.
"I haven't had any communication with Belfast," said Blaisdell.
He recently quit as assisant coach of Western Hockey League side, Regina Pats in his native Canada.
Blaisdell left Sheffield Steelers after leading them to the inaugural
Elite League title and play-off crown in 2004.
"I suppose there are people putting two and two together since my resignation
in Regina, but nothing has reached me on this side of the water," added Blaisdell.
Despite playing down speculation of a possible return to Belfast, Cardiff Devils coach Dave Whistle continues to be linked with the Giants vacancy.
