Henry Cecil's Twice Over enjoyed two Group One successes this year |
Newmarket trainer Henry Cecil has revealed that Champion Stakes winner Twice Over will be entered into the Dubai World Cup again in March. The Khalid Abdulla-owned five-year-old finished only 10th in the world's richest race in 2010. But, despite that defeat, the domestic season has been profitable for Twice Over and Cecil's Warren Place stable. And Cecil, who secured Group One wins with Twice Over, Midday and Frankel, has opted to have another go. "We are going to try again to win the Dubai World Cup with Twice Over," said Cecil on his website. "Last time he had a bad draw and got a bump early on which meant he never got into the race. "Hopefully we'll get a better draw this time. Meydan is so tight and there is a short run to the first bend, which makes things difficult for the horses drawn wide." | I like to set myself targets and mine always is to make each year better than the last |
Cecil boasted 66 winners overall last season, earning £2.3m in prize money to finish fifth in the flat season's trainer rankings. "It has been good this year," he added. "It has been our strongest season for quite some time and I'm pleased to be back up there. "All going well we should have a strong team for 2011. The older horses will be spearheaded by Twice Over, Midday, Manifest, Timepiece and Frankel and we also have some nice late-maturing two-year-olds to add strength in the team. "I think we should have around 50 yearlings so we should have around the same amount of horses as last year, which considering the recession is good. "I like to set myself targets and mine always is to make each year better than the last - I do not want to slide down the tree again."
