Midday was Cecil's only runner at Churchill Downs |
Newmarket trainer Henry Cecil has yet to plot his next move for Midday after her defeat at the Breeders' Cup meeting in the United States last week. The four-year-old failed to retain the Filly & Mare Turf title she won last year, losing out to Shared Account. Cecil told his website: "She got a couple of nasty bumps, but still rallied to only go down by a neck. "She seems fine, although a little tired. No decision regarding her future will be made at this stage." Midday's second place finish in Kentucky is a minor disappointment at the end of a 2010 season that has seen her win three Group One races. "She ran a very game race at Churchill Downs, considering the tight track, firm ground, and the fact they didn't go a great gallop and it turned into a bit of a sprint," Cecil added. "I really do not like making excuses as it was the same for all the field and she did not disgrace herself in any way."
