Tom Queally rode Midday to Breeders' Cup success a year ago |
Newmarket trainer Henry Cecil is hoping to continue his recent success by preparing Midday for the Breeders' Cup. The four-year-old will be entered into the Fillies and Mares Turf at Churchill Downs in November, a race she won 12 months ago at Santa Anita. Cecil said on his website: "Midday is on track for her attempt at back-to-back wins in the Breeders' Cup. "I am very pleased with her and she is a real joy to have. I owe her so much towards the stable's revival." Victory in America would follow a remarkable weekend on Champions' Day for Cecil's Warren Place stable, who saw Twice Over claim the Champion Stakes and the highly-rated Frankel win the Dewhurst. Midday heads to Kentucky in good form after Group One victories in the Nassau Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks and Prix Vermeille this year. | He has shown promise but I do not think he would benefit from a top-flight race Henry Cecil on Picture Editor |
Cecil has also been plotting his next move for promising two-year-old Picture Editor. The colt has won in both his previous outings in the Maiden Stakes at Doncaster and the Squirrel Conditions at Leicester. "I want to run Picture Editor down here at Newmarket on October 30 in the Zetland Stakes," said Cecil. "He has shown promise but I do not think he would benefit from a top-flight race like the Racing Post Trophy [at Doncaster] this season. It could be the undoing of him."
