George Washington has won six of his nine races |
George Washington has been confirmed as a definite starter in the Breeders' Cup Classic on November 4. Aidan O'Brien's 2,000 Guineas and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner will face some of the world's best horses in the Grade One 10-furlong contest on dirt.
The three-year-old colt had the Breeders' Cup Mile on the same card at Churchill Downs as an alternative.
"He will definitely run in the Classic and Mick (Kinane) will ride," said O'Brien.
"It opens up the world if he was to win the race and he's in good form."
The Irish trainer will have three runners in the Mile - Ad Valorem, Ivan Denisovich and Aussie Rules.
Aussie Rules will again be partnered by Garrett Gomez, who rode the three-year-old colt to victory in the Grade One Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland on his last start.
That leaves Kinane with the choice of riding Ad Valorem or Ivan Denisovich.
Scorpion, third in the 2005 St Leger, is O'Brien's sole contender in the Breeders' Cup Turf - completing Ballydoyle's quintet at Churchill Downs.
