Royal Ascot with the BBC

The BBC boasts extensive coverage of the Royal Ascot meeting - on TV, radio and online.

Television

Willie Carson and Clare Balding
Willie Carson and Clare Balding will be anchoring the BBC coverage
A total of 24 races will be broadcast live from the Berkshire course, the first five races on the card from Tuesday to Friday and the first four on Saturday.

And there will also be a nightly highlights programme for those who have missed the action earlier in the day.

Clare Balding and Willie Carson present the afternoon action, with Jim McGrath calling the races.

Former top jockey Ray Cochrane and Ian Bartlett will take up their positions in the paddock, providing expert commentary on the runners and riders, with reports and interviews from Jonathan Powell.

Betting guru Angus Loughran offers tips and advice on the day's market movers.

He will also be operating the BBC Forecaster, which brings together lots of key statistics to try to predict the placings.

Royal Ascot is often the place to be seen and designer Jeff Banks and fashion expert Yvette Brice will provide analysis on all the latest trends while the BBC's royal correspondent Jennie Bond commentates on regal matters.

Thirty cameras will be operating to capture all the atmosphere, including the"favourite cam", which tracks the market leader.

A helmet-mounted camera gives armchair views a realistic feel of what the jockey is seeing during the race while the "wire-cam" high-level unit provides spectacular reverse angle shots.

The event will be broadcast in more than 60 countries all over the world, reaching about 28 million viewers.

Radio

The Sony-award-winning BBC Five Live racing team will also be following events at the five-day Royal meeting.

Lee McKenzie provides the race commentary while BBC racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght adds his specialist insight.

Former trainer Charlie Brooks samples the unique atmosphere as the horses are loaded into the stalls.

And ex- jockey Luke Harvey gives his tips and all the early news in his morning bulletins from the course.

The coverage includes a special programme on Gold Cup day (also known as Ladies' Day) on Thursday, 19 June, which will be jointly presented by John Inverdale and Simon Mayo.

Online

The BBC Sport website will provide a live racewatch on every day of the meeting, following the action as it happens.

It will also carry all the latest news, reports, features and photo galleries as well as offering a full results service.

You can play our fun quiz, Are You Toff Enough? to find your ideal partner for Royal Ascot.

The site has a beginner's guide to racing which includes profiles of all the leading trainers and jockeys and Honest Frank's guide to racecards and other racing complexities.
