BBC Sport Online lists the record-breaking achievements of Tony McCoy, whose 1,700th winner makes him the most successful British jump jockey of all-time.


1994-5

  • Broke record for most winners in a season by a conditional jockey with 74.

    1996-7

  • Reached 100 winners on 21 November 1996, beating Peter Scudamore's record by 30 days.

    1997-8

  • Earned 100th winner of the season on 5 November 1997, some 16 days ahead of his own record.

  • Secured 150th victory on 17 December, breaking this Scudamore record by 51 days.

  • Clocked up 200th victory on 28 February 1998. Another Scudamore mark topped, by 58 days.

  • Reached 250 winners on 14 May, the first jump jockey ever to do so.

  • Rode a total of 253 winners, some 32 above Scudamore's previous record.

  • Equalled record for most winners ridden at a single Cheltenham Festival with five.

    1999-2000

  • Reached 1,000 career winners in Britain in five years and 95 days, beating Scudamore's record by five years and 72 days.

  • Rode his 200th winner for the season on 18 February, beating his own record by 10 days and becoming the first British jump jockey to make it to 200 twice.

    2001-2

  • Collected 100th seasonal triumph on 17 September 2001, seven weeks ahead of his own record.

  • Gained 150th win on 18 November, 29 days better than his previous mark.

  • Broke another of his own records by reaching 200 winners on 11 January 2002, some 38 days ahead of his previous best.

  • Made it to 250 winners on 25 February, 78 days ahead of his best.

  • Set new mark for most winners in a jumps season by riding his 254th winner on 2 March.

  • Beat Sir Gordon Richards' all-time record of 269 winners in a season on Valfonic at Warwick on 2 April and ended the campaign on 289.

    2002-3

  • Equalled Peter Scudamore's career total of 1,678 triumphs on Rakaposhi Lass at Worcester on 24 July 2002.

  • Became second-most winning British jump jockey behind Richard Dunwoody (1,699) when topping Scudamore's total of 1,678, on Polar Champ at Newton Abbot on 28 July.

  • Broke Dunwoody's all-time record with 1,700th win, on Mighty Montefalco at Uttoxeter on 27 August.
