Scott's View 9-2F (J Quinn) After biding his time early in the race, Scott's View scampers through the centre to overtake stable-mate Darasim and win by two lengths. Mark Johnston, who has been the leading trainer in two of the last four years at Goodwood, enjoys a 15-1 double. 1520 - Peugeot Gordon Stakes (Group Three - 1m 4f) 1. Bandari 15-8 (W Supple) Hitting the front from the start and never relinquishing his lead, Bandari dominates the field to clinch victory. First Charter attempts to make up ground with two furlongs to go but Bandari pulls away and comfortably passes the post seven lengths clear. Bandari has now shortened to 8-1 for the St Ledger. 1445 - Gerrard Investment Management Richmond Stakes (Group Two - 6f) 1. Elusive City 9-2 (K Fallon) Elusive City produces a mighty performance, coming from nowhere to hit the front with a furlong to go and win by three lengths. The winning time is just one second outside the course record, proving that Elusive City has speed in abundance and is definitely one to watch. The victory is a poignant one following the death last week of Prince Ahmed Salman, who owned the Thoroughbred Corporation which trains Elusive City. 1415 - The Bet Direct Summer Stakes (Handicap - 1m 2f) 1. Prairie Wolf 13-2 (D Corby) Prairie Wolf surges through the centre with two furlongs remaining to claim victory in the first race of the day. There is a three-way photo finish, although there is little doubt Prairie Wolf edges out Robandella and favourite Kirovski. In an unfortunate end, winning jockey Corby falls after passing the post when his right foot slips from the stirrup. He picks himself up, though, and does not appear too badly hurt. |
