Britain's Beth Tweddle was forced to pull out of Sunday's floor final at the World Gymnastics Championships. The 20-year-old scraped her knee badly in the warm up for Saturday's uneven bars final but went on to win bronze.
However, the injury became more painful overnight and Tweddle, who also came fourth in Friday's all-round, withdrew.
Alicia Sacramone won floor gold and her US team-mate Nastia Liukin took silver to help America dominate the final women's medal table in Melbourne.
Led by Liukin, Sacramone and Chellsie Memmel, the American women produced their best ever performance in a World Championships, winning nine out of 15 medals.
As well as floor silver, Liukin also won gold on the beam and uneven bars, while Memmel clinched silver on the beam and bars.
The pair also dominated the all-round event - Memmel, 17, taking gold ahead of her 16-year-old compatriot.
Sacramone also won bronze in Saturday's vault final.
"I can't find any other word, it was just very spectacular," said former Soviet Olympian Valeri Liukin, the father and coach of Nastia Liukin.
"We are a very strong unit right now and this is a real team. That's what makes us strong, we help each other."
However, the honours were more evenly shared across the men's events, and Jason Gatson - the only American man to qualify for a final - could only manage seventh on the parallel bars.
Tweddle was considered an outside medal chance for the floor final after finishing fifth in qualifying earlier in the week in Melbourne.
Shavahn Church also finished 20th in Friday's women's all-round final and fellow Briton Imogen Cairns came eighth in the Saturday's vault final.
GB team-mate Ross Brewer was 21st in Thursday's men's all-round showdown.
