Britain's Beth Tweddle took the bronze medal in the uneven bars final at the World Gymnastics Championships for the second time in her career on Saturday. The City of Liverpool gymnast, who also finished third on her main apparatus in Anaheim in 2003, scored a tidy 9.575 to secure her podium place in Melbourne.
Tweddle's success made up for the heartache of just missing out on a bronze in Friday's all-round final.
Nastia Liukin won the gold and her US team-mate Chellsie Memmel the silver.
Tweddle, who also has an outside medal chance in Sunday's floor final, told the British Gymnastics website she was relieved she was able to shrug off a slight knee injury and clinch her bronze.
"I came into the championships hoping I could get a medal and it's happened," she said.
"I can't say I was expecting it, but I was definitely hopeful of winning a medal. In the warm-up I slipped off the bars and scraped my knee.
"It hurt a little bit but I tried not to think about it and my routine went OK. Overall I think I did pretty well."
