Northamptonshire's Tim Stockdale has been named in the Great Britain squad for the European Dressage and Jumping Championships at the end of August.
Stockdale, from Roade, is confident about winning medals for Team GB with his horse Fresh Direct Corlato.
"To be jumping on home soil is really good. We have a real medal chance," Stockdale told BBC Radio Northampton.
Royal Windsor hosts the Championships, which benefits both riders and horses as travel is minimal.
The rider faces a test at the competition to determine the likelihood of Fresh Direct Corlato competing in London 2012 as the horse will then be 15 years old.
"She's got quality and has proved capable," Stockdale added. "A horse that can jump an Olympic course is one in 100,000.
"If she is figuring well, the Championships are a good indicator to how she is."
