Rachel Morris had an 80-second lead over her nearest rival

Sarah Storey and Rachel Morris won their second gold medals for Britain at the 2010 UCI World Paracycling Road Championships in Canada.

Riding in the C5 category, defending champion Storey outsprinted Poland's Anna Harkowska in the final 500m.

Meanwhile, Morris enjoyed a more comfortable victory in the H3 class.

Team-mate Karen Darke finished fourth in the H2 class, while Rik Waddon and Shaun McKeown finished outside the medals in the men's C3 race.

Storey, who won five Paralympic swimming gold medals as Sarah Bailey in 1992 and 1996, gained two more golds at Beijing two years ago as a cyclist.

The Manchester-born rider, competing in the new C5 class for athletes with minimum impairments in Canada, once again faced stiff competition from Harkowska, who had pushed her all the way on Thursday when Storey won the the 22.8km race.

However, Storey used her impressive finishing speed to clinch the 57km race.

"That was a great race to ride as riders were attacking from the start, making it an aggressive race," said a jubilant Storey.

"I was determined to try and put some time between myself and Anna, but she hung on to my back wheel.

"I attacked with three kilometres to go, but thought it was a bit early and eased back, then sprinted away from her at 500m to go.

"It's brilliant to retain the title I won last year and this now brings my tally to 14 world titles in swimming and cycling!"

Meanwhile, Morris enjoyed an easier ride in the handcyclist race, pulling away from her rivals and finishing in a time of one hour 18:04secs, over 80 seconds ahead of silver medallist Sandra Graf of Switzerland.

"I tried to carry out our plan of attack which was to control the speed on the first lap up the climb, where I was able to get a gap on my opponents," said Morris, who won gold in the individual time trial on Thursday.

"I'm really happy to be double world champion and after the problems with classification last year I was so glad to win this year."
