Ellie Simmonds continued her superb form at the IPC World Short Course Championships in Rio with her fifth gold medal of the week. The Swansea-based 15-year-old won her 100m freestyle event with team-mate Natalie Jones second. There was also gold for Claire Cashmore who led home a British clean sweep in her 100m individual medley. The City of Leeds swimmer beat Stephanie Millward and Kate Grey into second and third. Cashmore was in fifth place at the halfway stage of her race but came through strongly on the third leg to take the lead and she held on for a new world record of 1:11.83 beating, Grey's record set in the morning heats.
