Weir won the T54 400m by almost a second |
David Weir and Daniel Greaves increased Britain's gold medal haul on day three of the IPC Athletics World Championships in Assen. Weir set a new games record of 48.06 secs as he took gold in the T54 400m and Greaves broke his own games record in the F44 discus, throwing 58.83m.
Sprinters John McFall and Elizabeth Clegg took bronze and silver in their respective 200m events.
That takes the medal tally to four golds, two silvers and three bronzes.
McFall seemed slightly disappointed to finish in third place in a time of 26.40 secs, and hope to do better than that later in the week in the 100m.
"I'm a little disappointed because I know I can run under 26 seconds," he said.
"I'm pleased with bronze but nothing beats hearing your national anthem when you are standing on the podium.
"By my form over the first 120m there's no reason why I can't put in a challenge for the top spot in the 100 but its a different race all together and this is all such a learning experience for me."
Teenager Clegg ran a personal best of 26.06 to finish behind the current games record holder Oxana Boturchuk.
But Tanni Grey Thompson just missed out on the podium with her fourth place finish in the T53 100m final.
And Bev Jones and Katrina Hart had to settle for fifth and sixth respectively in the T38 100m, behind the world record holder Elizabeth McIntosh from Australia, with the gold.
Ben Rushgrove and Graeme Ballard also secured their place in the T36 200m final.
