British pair Beverley Jones and David Gale both won gold on the opening day of the IPC World Athletics Championships in Assen, Holland. Jones managed a championship best of 10.57m to win the F37 shot.
The 31-year-old from North Wales will also compete in the 100m and 200m events later in the week.
Gale, from Southport, was victorious in the F51 discus with 9.65m to beat Czech thrower Martin Zvolanek by 2cm with fellow Briton Richard Schabel fourth.
Daniel West threw a personal best of 38.16m in the F33/34 discus, but he had to settle for silver behind Iran's Siamak Saleh Farajzadeh.
There was bronze for Kim Minett in the F40 shot who managed 6.74m behind Morocco's Laila El Garaa, with a world record of 7.66m, with sister Najat El Garaa taking silver.
Sophie Hancock finished just outside the medals in fifth but managed a personal best of 6.72m.
Wheelchair racer Shelly Woods just missed a medal in the T54 5,000m finishing fourth in a race won by Switzerland's Edith Hunkeler.
David Weir had no problem advancing to the T54 400m final, winning both his heat and semi-final.
There were also personal bests for Ben Rushgrove (T36 100m) and Katherine Deal (T13 400m) as they advanced to their respective finals, while Libby Clegg (T12 200m) set a new PB in reaching the semi-finals.
