GB celebrate a remarkable win |
Terry Bywater was the hero of the hour as Britain won gold in the men's wheelchair basketball after a dramatic 58-57 overtime win against Australia. In the tightest game of the Paralympic World Cup, the gap between the sides was never more than five points.
Trailing 53-50 with two seconds to go, Bywater forced overtime with an amazing three-pointer from the halfway line.
Then with the scores tied 57-57 and no time left, Ade Adepitan landed a free throw to seal a memorable win.
GB coach Dave Titmuss praised his side following their remarkable win.
"I couldn't have asked for more from my players. They really were wonderful," he told BBC Sport.

"There were some young guys in our side who had to make some big plays and they did it."
"We've probably discovered four guys that are going to be significant for Beijing 2008 but it was a team effort."
The result went some way to avenging GB's defeat to Australia at last year's Paralympics.
Britain were knocked out by the silver medallists in the semi-finals in Athens.
Australia had started strongly, edging a 18-14 lead after sharp shooting from Shaun Groenewegen in the first quarter.
But GB battled back over the next two periods with some careful scoring from Kevin Hayes (5) and Dan Highcock (11).
Dave Titmuss' team went into the final quarter with a 39-34 lead before Australia pulled back then went ahead in the dying minutes of regular time.
As the seconds ticked away, Bywater sunk the throw of his life to push the game into extra time.
The scores were again level after five minutes but a foul on Adepitan gave GB the chance to avoid another session of extra time and clinch the game.
Adepitan missed his first free throw but made no mistake with the second as Britain secured the inaugural Visa Paralympic World Cup title.
