British wheelchair racer David Weir claimed fifth place in Sunday's New York Marathon. Weir, the winner of the Great North and Great South wheelchair races, clocked a time of one hour 36.48 minutes on his New York debut.
The race was won by South African Ernst van Dyk, in a course record 1:31.11, ahead of Australia's Kurt Fearnley.
Weir and fellow Briton Tushar Patel led after 10km but van Dyk moved to challenge around halfway.
Patel finished eighth in 1:39.39 with Scotland's Kenny Herriott 12 seconds further back in 10th.
Defending champion Edith Hunkeler from Switzerland retained her women's title, finishing 40 seconds clear of American Christina Ripp with Britain's Shelly Woods in third.
