Robertson and his crew have had a superb championship |
Britain's John Robertson celebrated his bronze medal at the 2003 World Disabled Sailing Championships by winning the last race of the Sonar class series. Robertson was already assured of bronze going into the last of the nine race series in Athens.
But he and his crew of Stephen Thomas and Hannah Stodel ended the series the way they started it - with a race win.
It rounded off a consistent series of two firsts, a second, three fifths, a sixth, a seventh and a 10th place finish in the Sonar class races.
Britain's other crew, skippered by Andy Cassell, finished ninth in the last race of the series and sixth overall.
Cassell, and his crew of Ed Suckling and Brian Harding were just seven points off fifth place.
There were mixed fortunes for Britain's Andrew Millband in the last two races of the 2.4mR class - the other Paralympic sailing class.
He produced his worst finish of the nine race series - 24th - in the penultimate race of the competition.
But he recovered well to round off the series with an excellent fourth place in the last race to hold on to a creditable 10th place overall in the series.
A sixth place in the final race helped Allan Smith climb two places up the final placings to 12th overall, while 16-year-old Megan Pascoe claimed an impressive 15th overall.
Val Millward rounded off the competition in 19th with Michael Cogswell 28th.
