Glasgow crowd were awful - Adrian Lewis

Adrian Lewis
Lewis beat Anderson in the World Championship final in January

Adrian Lewis says that the behaviour of the crowd during his Premier League win over Gary Anderson was "awful".

The world champion from Stoke-on-Trent had a pint of lager and coins thrown at him as he completed an 8-3 victory over the Scot in Glasgow.

"Every time Gary was throwing, I was expecting something to hit me. It was awful," Lewis told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I thought at one point of walking off the stage for my own safety, it was that bad."

Anderson also acknowledged the poor behaviour of the crowd, picking up a coin thrown onto the stage in an apparent protest against the treatment of Lewis.

Anderson, who was beaten by Lewis in the World Championship final in January, had taken a 3-0 lead, only for the 26-year-old to reel off eight successive legs and climb into the Premier League's top four.

"I still got the job done in the end, I don't know how I did it," added Lewis.

"It will be a better atmosphere next week [in Brighton], and I can't wait to play again."
