Lewis (l) lost 8-4 to Taylor in their previous Premier League meeting |
Adrian Lewis has an outside chance of reaching the semi-finals of the Premier League, requiring a victory against Phil Taylor in Nottingham to qualify. Lewis, who also needs Ronnie Baxter and James Wade to lose on Thursday, has never defeated the 15-times world champion on television before. "If I win, I might still have a chance of qualifying and that's how I will prepare for the match," said Lewis. "I have to beat Phil and that would prove I deserve to get through." Baxter faces Raymond van Barneveld, while defending champion Wade takes on Terry Jenkins. Taylor is the only player definitely through to the semi-finals, which will take place at Wembley on 23 May, having won 11 and drawn two of his 13 matches in the group stages. "I'm going to go up there and enjoy the game," the four-times Premier League winner said. "Adrian always gets up for matches against me and it could be crucial for him, but I won't be doing him any favours."
