Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor play each other in Birmingham on 25 March |
Stoke-on-Trent pair Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor both picked up victories in week two of the Premier League in Bournemouth on Thursday evening. Lewis produced the most impressive display on the night, beating former world champion Raymond van Barneveld. "I know I can beat anyone on my day," said Lewis after an 8-3 victory. Meanwhile, current world champion Taylor maintained his winning start to the competition, coming back from 4-0 down to defeat Ronnie Baxter 8-6. "I couldn't get going at the beginning and Ronnie played really well," said Taylor. "After I won my first leg, and then another against the darts, I put a little bit of pressure on him." Defending champion James Wade was beaten for the second week in a row, losing 8-4 to Mervyn King in a repeat of the 2009 final, while Terry Jenkins and Simon Whitlock drew 7-7. Taylor and Wade, ranked numbers one and two in the world, meet in Belfast in week three.
