Stoke's Lewis eyes UK Open glory

Adrian Lewis
Lewis wants to reach the top four in the world rankings by the end of the year

World number seven Adrian Lewis hopes his endless hours of practice will bear fruit at the UK Open this week.

Lewis is among 97 players competing at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton which starts on Thursday and ends on Sunday.

Lewis told BBC Radio Stoke: "On average I've been putting in six or seven hours a day. I've not won a TV event and the UK Open would be a good way to start."

"I've been working very hard on my finishing because that's been the big issue for me recently."

Lewis, from Westbury Park in Staffordshire, was knocked out in the last 32 by Brendan Dolan in the 2008 tournament.

Defending champion James Wade, who beat American Gary Mawson in last year's final, will be among the favourites to retain his title.
