Peter Kennaugh Manx cyclist Peter Kennaugh reveals recent events at the Tour of Spain have been the low point of his year. The 21-year-old was on the island to meet up with the Manx cycling squad ahead of October's Commonwealth Games. In March, Kennaugh fractured his left collarbone in Italy but came back to claim silver at the British Road Race Championships in Pendle. "It's been a difficult first season but I have learnt so much," he told BBC Isle of Man. "I'm really enjoying my cycling but there have been a lot of ups and downs. "It took me quite a while to recover from my collarbone but it's behind me now." Thomas takes road race title in sprint finish The young Manxman says his performance at the British Road Race Championships was a real high point. "Getting on the podium was brilliant and to finish 1-2-3 with my team mates was awesome." The 21-year-old finished half a wheel down on team-mate Geraint Thomas after the Team Sky pair broke clear. Kennaugh was also part of the Sky team which withdrew from the Tour of Spain following the death of masseur Txema Gonzalez last month. He will represent the Isle of Man in both the points and scratch races at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. "It's been a really hard first year as a professional and I'm really looking forward to a change of scenery and to see what the Manx team can achieve.
