Kennaugh signed his first professional contract with Team Sky in September |
Isle of Man cyclist Peter Kennaugh has fractured his left collarbone after crashing at the Strade Bianche Eroica race in Italy on Saturday. The 20-year-old Team Sky rider came off in the third of eight tricky gravel sections in the Siena race. Kennaugh went straight to hospital but as it was a clean break surgery was not deemed necessary. Astanta rider Maxim Iglinskiy won the race with Team Sky's Thomas Lofkvist second and Michael Rogers third. Another of Kennaugh's team-mates, Norwegian Kurt Asle Arvesen, suffered the same injury at last month's Tour of Qatar and will return to action on Wednesday. Team Sky's sports director, Marcus Ljungqvist said: "Peter is a strong little guy and I'm sure he'll make a quick recovery." "It's bad news but, as Kurt has shown, you can come back quickly from an injury like this and Peter will."
