Cavendish has a British record 10 Tour de France stage victories |
Manx cycling manager Gary Hinds has confirmed that Mark Cavendish will represent the island at the Commonwealth Games in October. "This will be the first time anyone has seen the Cavendish that has shot to fame over the past three years wearing the Isle of Man jersey," said Hinds. The 25-year-old will travel to India after competing at the World Road Race Championships in Melbourne. Cavendish will head a strong Manx team for the road race. The Manx sprint specialist won the 20km scratch race title at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The Manx team will also include GB riders Peter Kennaugh, Mark Christian, Tim Kennaugh and Chris Whorrall. There could also be a place for Jonny Bellis as he continues his return to full fitness.
