Cavendish became the first Brit to win on the Champs-Elysees in 2009 |
Isle of Man cyclist Mark Cavendish delivered a trademark sprint finish to win the second stage of the Tour of Catalunya on Tuesday. The Manxman overcame a tricky category one climb to record his first win of a season which has been hampered by dental problems. The 24-year-old finished seventh in Monday's opening prologue, just four seconds behind winner Paul Voss. Cavendish won his first ever pro race at the Spanish event in 2007.
