Arblaster aiming for 2010 Games

Arblaster was named the British Junior Champion of Champions earlier this week

Guernsey cyclist Dan Arblaster is aiming to ride at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, according to his coach.

The 17-year-old was named the British Junior Champion of Champions earlier this week after his displays in national events this season.

"Dan would like to qualify for the Commonwealth Games," his coach Paul Brehaut told BBC Guernsey.

Arblaster came second in the junior national 10 and 25-mile time trials and the hill climb this year.

"We're going to look at the velodrome, but hopefully we'll get there through time-trialling," Brehaut said.

"It will be a lot of speed-work through the winter and if we can get Dan in it'll be brilliant. He'd be 19 by the time he gets there, what an achievement that'd be," he added.
