Guernsey's Dan Arblaster is the national junior 10-mile time trial champion after beating the event record. Arblaster, 17, completed the Hampshire course with an average speed of more than 30mph to claim the title of best junior in the country. His time of 19 minutes and 53 seconds was also the fastest set by a junior in the event's history. And it was a Guernsey one-two, with James McLaughlin coming in second. Arblaster was a second down on race favourite Richard Handley at the halfway stage in a time of 9 minutes 38 seconds, but put in the faster return leg to secure the win. Arblaster, who is studying for his A-levels, will next race in a 25-mile time trial in a fortnight.
