Cavendish hit the headlines by winning Commonwealth gold |
Britain's Mark Cavendish has signed a two-year professional contract to ride for T-Mobile from next season. The 21-year-old earned the deal after impressing the German team during the Tour of Britain, where he won the points title.
Cavendish, a world track champion, won the Isle of Man's first Commonwealth gold medal for 20 years when he claimed the 20km scratch title in Melbourne.
"This is an amazing opportunity and I'm determined to do well," he said.
T-Mobile are recruiting new riders following the departures of former Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich and Andreas Kloden.
