 Paul Helion claimed his second stage win on Monday |
Ray Clarke maintained his overnight lead to win the Tour of Ulster in Newry on Monday. Clarke went into the final stage 15 seconds ahead of Conor Murphy and the cushion proved sufficient with the Emyvale rider staying in second place.
Paul Helion's final stage win helped move him up to third place ahead of recent Tour of the North winner Ryan Connor, who took fourth.
It was Helion's second stage win after his time-trial victory on Sunday.
Jonathan Dempsey from Draperstown finished eighth overall.
In the final stage, Helion (Murphy & Gunn) led home a three-man group that slipped away on the finishing circuit in Newry and held on to win by a few seconds.
Clarke, a former bronze medallist at the Track World Championship, finished the stage in sixth place which maintained his 15-second overnight lead on Murphy.
Ciaran Power held on to his overnight advantage to claim victory in the Abmopticians.com KOH Competition, while Ryan Connor won the Irish News Young Rider Competition and Murphy & Gunn won the team prize.
In Sunday's action, Dan Morrissey team rider Clarke finished third in the 2.5 mile time trial around Cookstown which moved him ahead of previous leader Murphy.
Emyvale man Murphy finished 19 seconds behind Clarke in the time-trial which was won by Dublin rider Helion.
Ryan Connor was second in the time-trial having won the 65-mile stage from Helion earlier in the day but he remained 54 seconds down on Clarke going into Monday's final stage.
