Cooke climbs world cycling ranks

Welsh cyclist Nicole Cooke is up to fifth in the International Cycling Union's latest world rankings.

The boost comes despite the fact that she has had just six days of competitive road racing this season.

The rankings cover all road, track and cyclo-cross racing, but not mountain biking in which Cooke, 22, has been competing for the past month.

Australia's Oenone Wood leads the rankings with 384 points from Germany's Judith Arndt (369). Cooke has 250.
