New Riders signing Liam Potter has been playing in the top flight in Ukraine |
Leicester Riders have signed towering Great Britain Under-23 international centre Liam Potter. Spalding-born Potter joins from the Ukraine, where he played in their SuperLeague for BC Khimik Yuzhny. Potter, who is seven feet tall, is registered in time for him to play in the weekend's double header against Chester Jets and Glasgow Rocks. Potter replaces Phil Missere, who joined the club for a four-week spell up to Christmas. Missere provided cover for Andrew Bennett, who is continuing his recovery from an operation. Coach Rob Paternostro said: "Liam brings us some real size in the middle, but he also has quick feet for a big man. "I like his moves on the baseline, and I am sure he can help our defence. I have had the chance to weigh him up in training this week, and the signs are good."
